Dr. Farida Qazi Memorial Hospital for Special People, Sector H, Street#5, Sheikh Maltoon Town Mardan.
Until 1981, there has been no help in Mardan for handicapped children. At that time there were at least 200 local children in need of special education.
In May 1981, a small school was started sponsored by the Church of Pakistan and initially helping only mentally handicapped children. The aim of school was to reach younger children because they can benefit most from the training and teaching available. The is no medical treatment that can cure these children.
Very soon deaf children were also being brought for help and it became clear that the provision is necessary. Plans were now being made extend the scope of the school adding a separate class and teacher for young deaf children (3-7 years) to prepare them for other schools. Places will be limited to about seven in this special class.
As staff training continues it is hoped that numbers of both staff and children will increase to meet the obvious need.
The school is charitable institution dependent on donations both local and international. Can you help us with a donation to help the handicapped children of Mardan?
Donations should be given to Frontier Association for Mentally Handicapped via below demonstrated methods or direct to the school.
